Wines
Food
Bodegas Zarate, Albarino, Crisp White,Rias Baixas,Galicia, Spain, 12.5%, 2017, Y, Nicely balanced with notes of wet hay and salinity from the sea and lively fruit; zippy
Anchovy Olives
From Spain, mild green olives are stuffed with mild anchovies (yes we said mild). Delicious.
Negro Angelo & Figli, Arneis, Unfiltered, Soft White, Roero, Piemonte, Italy, 13.5%, 2017, Y, This wine has a minerally boquet with lots of lime and stone fruit notes, followed with a nice mouthfeel and lingers; delicious
Asiago
From Wisconsin, the real deal. Sharp and so, so flavorful.
Eva Fricke, Verde Riesling, Soft White, Rheingau, Germany, 11.0%, 2017, Y, Harvetsed early for lightness & freshness; the winemaker loves vino verde, so this is her take on it for a German Riesling; balanced & zippy with a note of lime; a fine & pure wine.
Quinn’s Parm & Rosemary Popcorn
This natural popcorn was originally made in Arlington but then the family moved to Colorado. But, it’s still the same, delicious popcorn.
Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py, Gamay, Smooth Red, Beaujolais, France, 14.0%, 2015, Thanks to its rich soil of blue stones coming from the disintegration of schist, this wine is full bodied and tannic. A wine to keep. The long maceration of the whole grape results in a powerful wine which improves over the years, giving a ripe stone-fruit fragrance on the nose like kirsch.
Escabeche with Shrimp and Chorizo
We had the wine with a similar dish and it went so well.
Palacios spicy chorizo
Celler del Roure, Safra, Mandó and Garnacha, Smooth Red, Valencia, Spain, 2015, Y, Spanish for saffron, Safra is a blend of Mandó, an indigenous grape of Valencia, with a small amount of Garnacha Tintorera. This is about as pure an example of Valencian wine as once can find, showing a brightness of fruit and a forthright and alluringly authenticity.
Kalamata Olive Spread
Kalamata Olive paste, red wine vinegar, garlic spices (oregano), and olive oil.
Perfect on crackers and bread. Makes a nice sandwich.
Wits End Luna, Shiraz, Barbera, Bold Red, McLaren Vale Australia, 14.0%, 2016, Y, Bouquet of dark berry fruits, with hints of roasted nuts; a textured wine with good balance, notes of dark chocolate and a long finish
