Cheers to Science, a book event at BookCliff Vineyards, will introduce Michael Kodas’ new book “Megafire”. Michael Kodas is the Deputy Director of the Center for Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder and the winner of the 2008 Colorado Book Award for General Nonfiction for his book, “Megafire: The Race to Extinguish a Deadly Epidemic of Flame”, which was also named one of the 20 best nonfiction books of 2017 by Amazon.
The book follows the author’s transformation from a young man fascinated by the controlled fires set by farmers in Kansas, to his training as a U.S. Forest Service Firefighter, to his quest to learn how decades of poor forest management, development of fire-prone landscapes, and human-driven warming of the climate have conspired to bring an explosion of deadly wildfires around the world. Finally, “Megafire” looks at how all those factors doomed the Arizona Hotshots.
Join us for a special evening, a glass of wine, and a talk from Michael Kodas.
Special for the evening: A glass of red or white wine for $6.00 including tax.
