Savor the local terroir of Arizona via Verde Canyon Railroad's Grape Train Escapes. Each onboard wine-tasting event features distinctive Arizona vineyards. As a result of overwhelming enthusiasm for Arizona wines, the Verde Canyon Railroad will bring its famed “Grape Train Escape” out of retirement in the summer of 2018. This tribute to great wines of the Grand Canyon State will be held on select Saturdays. June 16, July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4. • Arizona Stronghold will ride and represent with a selection of their vintages on June 16, July 7, July 21 and August 4, with each date departing at 1:00pm and returning by 5:00pm. While aboard the “Grape Train Escape,” passengers will be served a sampling of wines from select Verde Valley wineries. Guests also will enjoy specialty cheeses and hors d’oeuvres chosen to complement the featured wines. The ticket price for this excursion is $99.00; proof of age may be requested. Viogniers from each winery will be aboard to discuss the terroir and the techniques of wine-making.
