Tonight, Moreno Petrini, the proprietor of Tuscany's Tenuta di Valgiano will be pouring two wines produced at the estate: the intriguing 2016 Palistorti di Valgiano Bianco (a Vermentino, Trebbiano, Malvasia blend) and the venerable 2013 Valgiano Rosso, a Sangiovese blend. Tenuta di Valgiano sits in the hills overlooking the city of Lucca, tucked between the Apennine mountains and the Tyrrhenian coast. All work at Valgiano is biodynamic (with Demeter certification since 2002). Only 45,000 bottles are produced here each year, and the distinctive character, drinkability, and beautiful balance of the wines have made them perennial favorites on the local market and around the world.
