Cost: $27.50 3-Course Prix Fix Menu + $15 Paired Wine Flight

If you missed the Venge winemaker dinner with Kirk Venge earlier this month, please join us (21 and up only, please) this Thursday anytime from 5:30 on for another opportunity to sample these superb wines.

We're starting with their Chardonnay, followed by two of their reds: the "Scout's Honor" Proprietary Red Blend and the amazing "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon. The flight of all three wines is a ridiculously low sixteen bucks. Wine notes and bottle prices are at the end of this announcement if you're interested.

In addition to the regular twenty-seven-fifty 3-course prix fixe bistro menu (which includes vegetarian options), we're also featuring a delicious osso buco special that pairs with the wines. Here's the menu special line-up:

Salt Roasted Prawns | Toasted Garlic Butter Sauce | Crispy Rice | Tarragon Foam
(to enjoy with the Chardonnay)

Slow Braised Red Wine Osso Buco | Summer Vegetable Ragout | Wild Mushrooms
(to enjoy with the "Scout's Honor" Red Blend and "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon)

Chilled Dark Chocolate Trifle | Strawberry Sponge Cake | Chantilly Cream | Almond Bark
(to enjoy on its own or with our 12-year-old Venezuelan Rum)

Here's the wine line-up:

VENGE WINE FLIGHT (3 oz. pours): $16
2016 Croix Narrow Gauge Chardonnay
2016 Venge "Scout's Honor" Red Blend
2015 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon

RSVP ~ (619) 295-3939
Reservations are highly recommended.

SO YOU DON'T LIKE THESE WINES, EH?
In addition to the featured wine flight, we'll also have these and other wines available by the glass or bottle, as well as the usual pairing flight. We also have a full bar with lots of premium libations and attitude adjusters.

SO YOU DON'T LIKE THE DINNER SPECIAL, EH?
In addition to the special mentioned above, we'll also have several other 3-course menus (including vegetarian options) available. The bistro menu changes every week but you can get an example of a typical one by visiting our website, clicking on the calendar link and then clicking on a recent Friday.

LOCATION & PHONE
Wine Vault & Bistro is located in the heart of San Diego between Little Italy and Old Town at 3731-A India Street on the upstairs terrace. Follow the black handrail up the stairs from the sidewalk to our front door. Our phone number is (619) 295-3939.

PARKING ~ FREE & PAID
Valet parking is available for $8.00. The drop-off point is two doors south of our entrance in front of Shakespeare Pub at the corner of India and Winder. On-street parking is also usually available within a 3-block radius. Remember that it’s OK to park in yellow commercial zones after 6:00 and that meters are also free after 6:00. You can also park in the lot behind Shakespeare Pub two doors down, but do not park in El Indio's lot unless you want your car towed! If you can’t find parking next to the restaurant, there’s always LOTS OF PARKING on San Diego Avenue and the adjacent side streets just past the Chevron station across Washington Street. So please don't drive yourself crazy endlessly going around in circles waiting to pounce on that perfect spot when there's TONS OF PARKING less than three blocks away!

WINE NOTES & BOTTLE PRICES
2016 Croix Narrow Gauge Chardonnay ~ $33
2015 NOTES: (Russian River Valley) Winemaker's Notes: A fuller and broader style of Chardonnay, it has a golden straw presence in the glass with a bouquet of raw honey, marmalade, fresh citrus zest, toasted pine nuts, rocky flints, allspice, toasted oak and lusciousness on the nose that is ever so inviting. Island ripe pineapple, apple, stone fruit, and crisp pear fill the mouth. The balance of fresh and savory draws you in for another taste. Drink now through 2018.

2016 Venge "Scout's Honor" Red Blend ~ $32
(Napa Valley) Winemaker's Notes: 68% Zinfandel, 16% Charbono, 10% Petite Sirah + 6% Syrah. This vintage has a sumptuous concentration on the nose of sweet black fruit, crushed blue herbs, anise, black truffle, and vanillin. The palate is rich with sweet blueberry and raspberry fruit, dried cherries, black currants, and pepper spices. Fleshy and succulent with an enveloping masculinity of char and tannins from the Syrah, Charbono and Petite Sirah. A seamless balance and mouth coating delicious-ness are found throughout with an extra long finish that is quite pleasing to the senses. There is certainly a generous mouthful of red wine that we recommend be opened and enjoyed immediately upon release. Cellared correctly it will age for 5 to 10 years.

2015 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon ~ $36
(Napa Valley) Winemaker's Notes: 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petite Verdot + 2% Cabernet Franc. Fresh roasted coffee, sweet cassis and aromatic blue fruits lead the way to full bodied deliciousness. Dense and compact, with firm tannins that fully support the cascade of mouth-coating flavors. The finish is remarkably lengthy and complex. This wine is approachable upon release but cellar worthy through 2028.
