Word on the street is Friday will be the coolest day all week...around 67° for the high. Now I've named this tasting the Katie Collection because I told Katie I need a tasting where I did not pick the wines yet needed to flow with the shop. She came through like the 4, 12, 8 trifecta in the 9th race!

Here's how WE are gonna roll...

2017 Branciforti Catarrato - Fresh and aromatic catarratto, grown within the area of Trapani, under constant ventilation from the Mediterranean Sea, reveals a pleasant acidity that enhances the elegance and smell. It shows the Goblet of straw yellow color with light golden reflections. The palate with light hints of peach blossoms and wisteria, reserving, in the final, delicate notes of aniseed. Ideal for an aperitif on the nightfall goes happily with crudités seafood, tempura shrimp and reef fish.

2016 La Monacesca Verdicchio di Matelica - This wine's heady Spanish broom, acacia and yellow stone fruit scents lift out of the glass. The palate mirrors the nose, offering creamy peach, yellow apple and juicy citrus flavors alongside bright acidity. An almond note caps off the finish.

2015 Pazo Galegos Albariño - It is a wine that shows depth, balance and equilibrium. This fine Albariño doesn’t express intense aromas or an aggressive attack of flavor so much as long, subtle flavors, which evolve and linger on the palate.

Vibrant and precise on the nose, displaying intense, mineral-accented aromas of tangerine, honeydew and fennel, with a deeper pear note in the background.

Concentrated, sappy and incisive on the palate, it offers energetic citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a slow -building floral quality. A rich, but nervy Albariño with a long mineral-Driven finish and an echoing floral note.

2017 La Monacesca Rosato - his wine is from a little town called Matelica in the Marche region of Italy, just east of Umbria. You may recognize the La Monacesca label from their Verdicchio, which we have carried over the years. This rosé which is made up of Sangiovese and Merlot with lots of zippy acidity and a little bit of strawberry at the tip of the tongue, and then the rocky soil and limestone of Matelica come through on the really long finish. A great wine for those warm nights.

2017 Chateau Val Joanis “Cuvée Josephine” - Easy to drink rose in the south of France style. Aromas and flavors of citrus and red fruits. On the palate very light, almost delicate. Drink it alone or with lighter fair.
