French Wine Scholar Study & Certification Program
Presented by FWS Certified Educators

What Is It:

Atlanta Wine School is excited to be an authorized program provider proudly offering the prestigious French Wine Scholar Study and Certification program. This in-depth program provides current and accurate information on the wines and wine regions of France. Developed and administrated by the Wine Scholar Guild (formerly known as French Wine Society) with the support of the French Ministry of Agriculture, this specialization program is designed for serious students of wine, whether professionals or serious wine hobbyists.

This 5-Sunday program consists of educational sessions and tastings followed by an exam. The material is comprehensive, and the course is delivered at a moderate pace, requiring a commitment to learning on the part of the student. Successful candidates earn the FWS credential.

Earn A Credential In French Wine:

Candidates who successfully complete the course and pass the examination will receive a certificate and FWS designation.

Aim Of The Program:

For Industry Personnel and Consumer Wine Lovers:

The course is particularly recommended for wine professionals who have French wine sales as one of their job requirements and who do not currently feel comfortable with their French wine knowledge. The FWS is also appropriate for wine consumers who are passionate about French wine but have little experience with it. In addition, the FWS makes a perfect first step to get on solid ground regarding French wine before tackling high-level general credentials (e.g., Advanced Sommelier, CWE, WSET Diploma, etc.).

The French Wine Scholar program presents each French wine region as an integrated whole by explaining the impact of history, the significance of geological events, the importance of topographical markers and the influence of climatic factors on the wine the glass. No topic is discussed in isolation in order to give students a working knowledge of the material at hand. Learn more at frenchwinesociety.org.
