MUSIC

We've been very fortunate to feature some amazing local musicians on DiStefano alley stage. It all began with Jazz and in between we had Rock Jazz, Latin Jazz, Folk-Acoustic-World-Flamenco-Jazz, Brazilian-Samba-Soul Jazz, Blues and R&B fusions. And this year we are honored to invite to our stage yet another group of amazing musicians, the all-star quintet who will perform Classic & Contemporary Jazz and Blues — vocalist Greta Matassa, Alexey Nikolaev on saxophone, Darin Clendenin on piano, Clipper Anderson on bass and Mark Ivester on drums. Here is one of Greta's performances (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COQLSo4B3lU).

Greta Matassa is one of the most talented singers working in jazz today. She has been voted "Northwest Vocalist of the Year" by Earshot Jazz seven times in 15 years! She was voted again, Vocalist of the Year in 2014 and honored with a lifetime achievement award and inducted into the Earshot Jazz Hall of Farm in 2014.

A graduate of the prominent musical school in Russia, Gnesin's Music Academy, Alexey has performed in numerous jazz festivals around the world. "The first time I heard Alexey Nikolaev perform I was knocked out by his big tenor sound and his willingness to take chances with the music" - wrote All About Jazz Magazine about Alexey.

Keyboard artist, Darin Clendenin, is also an innovator, arranger, producer and teacher. He is recognized as one of the Northwest’s finest pianist and keyboard artists. Fluent in numerous styles of music, his stylish interpretations of everything from old classics to jazz standards, from classical to modern works enchant audiences everywhere. His performances, as well as his arranging and composing talents, are sought after for their artistry as well as their magical innovative mix of styles.

Bassist Clipper Anderson is a musician who defies labels. Equally comfortable with straight-ahead, traditional, free jazz or bebop, he plays with genuine reverence for the music and an unassuming mastery that speaks for itself. He is a virtuosic improviser, known for creating intelligent lines, which are often executed with stunning speed and precision. Earshot Jazz has aptly described Clipper as “ a player for the connoisseur to savor,” and rightly so.

Mark is a versatile drummer/percussionist with extensive experience in many different idioms from pop-rock to big band to jazz to orchestral settings. He has performed with many national jazz artists and is currently performing and recording with the Jovino Santos Neto quartet, Sonando, and The Nick Manson trio.

FOOD

This year our neighbors The PicNic Table will serve you their delicious mediterranean style foods. We will post the menu with suggested pairings closer to the event.

WINES & SPIRITS

Your ticket includes a complimentary glass of wine, vermouth spritzer or cocktail. To commemorate the 10th anniversary concert, DiStefano will release a limited bottling of wine created specifically for this event. We will also have a Library Wine booth where our winemaker, Mark Newton, will pour some of our wines going back as far as 1984. The availability is low and these wines will be sold on first come first serve basis. In addition other DiStefano wines and vermouth will be available for purchase by the glass and bottle, as well as bourbon from our neighbors, J.P. Trodden Distillery.

The concert will take place rain or shine, so we suggest bringing a beach umbrella in case it might be too sunny or rainy. Also, bring a seat, like a lawn chair, a sweet friend (or ten), and prepare for a good time!
