Blind Tasting: Cabernet Sauvignon vs. Merlot
& Price vs. Preference

One famous wine author once said that it’s “virtually impossible to tell the difference between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot”.We’re not so sure of that, and have Cab Sauvignon in the Bold Red section and Merlot in the Smooth Red section in the store. Nevertheless, this Wednesday Pairing investigates this hypothesis, as well as another tenet, thatsome people prefer less expensive wines. There will be four wines, two of each grape and two in different price ranges. They will be in brown bagslabelled 1 through 4. We will provide forms for you to rank the wines. The correct results will be available at the register, where, if you like, you can purchase wines. The regular shelf price ranges from $16.99 to $69.99 and will be 20% off for the tasting (i.e. $13.99 to $55.99).
