Please join us Wednesday, May 23rd any time between 4:30-7:30 pm when we welcome Dan Kosta to our wine bar. Dan is the co-founder of AldenAlli Wines and will present a flight of their current releases along with two library wines: the 2013 and 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noirs.
Dan grew up in Sonoma County, and wine was part of daily life at the Kosta house. His father, who had a wine store in Santa Rosa, served wine and encouraged its discussion and analysis over family meals from the time Dan was five years old. Once he was of age, Dan worked at his Dad’s shop learning more deeply about producers, appellations and the world of retail wine. He continued his wine education in fine dining, spending the majority of time working up to being the Wine Director at John Ash & Co. It was there that Dan met Michael Browne, who worked as a Sommelier. Like-minded spirits who both dreamt of trying their hand at winemaking, they pooled their tip money together and purchased enough basic equipment and some Pinot Noir grapes to produce their first vintage -- to great success. They made a huge splash, garnering several appearances on Wine Spectator's Top 100 lists and the coveted ‘Wine of the Year’ award for their 2009 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Dan and Michael continue to have the wine press and legions of loyal fans singing their praises, and their wines are as popular as ever.
Since the Kosta and Lagasse families, as in Emeril Lagasse, the famous New Orleans based chef, are longtime friends, Emeril and Dan founded AldenAlliWines with their respective wives, Alden and Alli to focus on Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. They also produce a Zinfandel from the Limerick Lane Vineyard which will round out the flight. Just like with Kosta Browne and Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant and food product empire, anything Dan and Emeril touch turns to gold. AldenAlli wines are award-winning and highly allocated, so this will be a rare opportunity to experience them in person with the man who makes them.
The featured wines will be served as two ounce glasses and the bottles will be available for retail sale while supplies last.
