Our next meeting is set for WEDNESDAY May 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Veil Pavilion at the Silverton (3333 Blue Diamond Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89139). We will be enjoying the wines of Region 1!
The Winkler Scale, or as it is sometimes called, The Fonzarelli scale (since he was lovingly portrayed by Henry Winkler), is a number assigned to a wine-growing region to tell exactly how warm or cool it is. The scale runs from 1 to 5, and can be said to advise those interested in growing grapes, on the correct grapes to grow. Since Region 1 is so cold, very few grapes can ripen. But, some of the most amazing wines in the world are grown in these regions including Champagne, Chablis, Tokaji, German Riesling, and a even Santa Maria Pinot Noir. We are going to dive deep on what makes Region 1 so important, and taste what bonds them together and what separates them as well.
Join us for a special evening with Master Sommelier Will Costello as we take a deep look at why these wines are so amazing. Will is one of only 233 Master Sommeliers in the world and resides in Mountain’s Edge.
Tasting fee for members is $12 per person and $20 per couple. Non-member fee is $16 per person. CASH ONLY! Please also bring your own wine glasses. Please bring an appetizer and wine to share with the group.
