Wine doesn’t have to be expensive to be good, and we’ll prove that at our Free Italian Wine Values Tasting this Friday! It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and you’re invited. Just stop by — no RSVP required and there’s plenty of free parking.

Italy continues to produce some of the world’s greatest wine values. Maybe it’s because wine is produced pretty much everywhere in the country or maybe it’s because the country is home to some of the top cooperatives in the world? I would need much more time and space to explain this fully, but for now, let’s just agree that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a great bottle of Italian wine. Still not sure — stop by this Friday to taste, learn, save, and be amazed by the quality-to-price ratio of the wines we’re pouring.

1. 2016 Vecchia Torre Vermentino (Salento, Italy) – Vecchia Torre is one of Southern Italy’s top, quality-oriented co-ops. This wine is the proof! From the Salento Peninsula, in the heel of Italy’s boot, this is lovely white wine. Fresh and crisp, yet rich and textured, it exhibits aromas and flavors of white peach, apple, white flowers, and green strawberry. Be careful — this one disappears quickly on warm and sunny days.

2. 2017 Vallevo Rosato (Abruzzo, Italy) – If you’ve shopped at Table Wine for any amount of time, you know that we have the best dry rosé selection of any store in town. This is a new one! From the Terre di Chieti zone of Abruzzo, this one blends Merlot with Montepulciano to create a light, dry, and zesty rosato. You won’t believe how good this is for the money!

3. NV Trevini Sangiovese “Rubicone” (Emilia-Romagna, Italy) – For just over $7/bottle, you won’t find a better pizza/pasta/crushable red than this one! Fermented entirely in stainless steel, it’s medium-bodied, it’s fresh, and it’s loaded with ripe and juicy notes of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. Don’t buy just 1 bottle of this one……..trust me.
