What began in 2008 as a co-op band of three long-time friends has
evolved into a potent high-energy musical powerhouse. Regulars at
The Phoenix on Friday nights, The MGDs have added some very competent horn players
to the mix. They present a passionate blend of Kansas City funk n’ blues. Now seven
pieces, The MGDs showcase their seductive mix of piano and brass complemented by
their groovin’ rhythm section at Holy-Field. Soulful stylings, served up in an electrifying
experience that adds a unique new flavor to that iconic Kansas City sound. It’s The MGDs
second time here at Holy-Field. Please, come welcome them back. Influences include a
variety of classic and modern sounds from New Orleans, Memphis and other mid-states
river towns, such as our own hometown Kansas City.
