More often than not, most people refer to all sparkling wines as, “Champagne,” but this is not the case. Champagne only comes from a specific region of the world known as, “Champagne,” in France just north of Paris. There are many sparkling wines made throughout the wine world, but only one can carry this name, it is a famous name, a name that carries with it a certain prestige. But all that said, it is not the only sparkling wine of the world that deserves attention. From the United States to Europe to the Southern Hemisphere, sparkling wines have grown more popular with producers and consumers. Understanding these other sparkling wines and where they come from will open a whole new world to any wine fan and also allow for a glimpse into what the world is doing with sparkling wine.
In this two hour seminar we will touch upon the wines of Champagne, the other major sparkling regions of the world, as well as the methods in which these wines are made. While tasting different wines we will be able to discuss similarities and differences and give you the opportunity to discover the endless supply of great sparkling wines on the market today. Not only will this be a night filled with fun and bubbles, but it will provide you the chance to experience wines that are obscure and off the beaten path, a chance to really understand what sparkling wine has to offer. At the end of the day, it is not just a wine meant for celebration, although it sure is one of the greatest wines to raise a glass and toast! Cheers!
