Chardonnay and Pinot Noir: for many wine drinkers these two grapes represent an obsession – and this can be an expensive habit to feed. Here we offer a stimulating overdose, a walk-round tasting of over 65 wines made from Chardonnay and Pinot from all over the world. There will be Champagne (from Blanc de Blancs to pure Pinot) and English sparkling wine, lots of white and red Burgundy and top examples from the new world: Chile (including Pandolfi Price and the Pizarras wines from Errazuriz), New Zealand (Felton Road), South Africa (Chamonix, Ataraxia and Des Dieux) and from Australia new arrivals from the Yarra (Hoddles Creek and Mac Forbes) and the splendid Pinots of the famed Ashton Hills vineyard near Adelaide. Plus Pinot Rosé for summer! Prices will range from under £9 a bottle to over £70: and all wines will be available to buy, with a discount, for later delivery.  Tickets are a very reasonable £20 (£15before 15/04/18).

Two superb tutored tastings will also be on offer for an additional £10: Nigel Greening, founder of legendary Kiwi estate Felton Road, introducing his Pinots; and articulate François Lequin, from Burgundy’s René Lequin-Colin (with vineyard holdings in Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet) discussing growing and making Chardonnay, presenting his wines and a couple from neighbours.

Simon Taylor, founder of Stone, Vine & Sun, says: “We suddenly realised we sell shedloads of wine from these two grapes; and it was time to have a big tasting focussed exclusively on them, celebrating the work of the many brilliant winemakers we work with. This is a wonderful  opportunity for wine lovers to compare examples from seven countries, to see the difference between unoaked and barrel-fermented Chardonnays; and between value Pinot from the Languedoc or Chile and grand red Burgundy or top new world Pinot Noir”.
