Please join Chef Jacques and the team at L’Auberge Chez François on Thursday, April 12 at 6:30pm as we proudly present the wines of Domaine Weinbach, one of the finest estates in Alsace – or France.

Named after the “Wine Brook”, a little stream that flows through the estate, Domaine Weinbach was founded by Capucin monks in 1612. The house is surrounded by the original 9th century monastic vineyard, the Clos des Capucins, at the foot of the majestic grand cru Schlossberg, whose granitic soils produce some of the most beautiful riesling in the world.

Our sommelier visited the Domaine last June with a Wine Scholar Guild study group, and came back with vivid memories of a courtyard full of roses, and of tasting wine in the cellar with Weinbach's gracious proprietor,  Catherine Faller, who then escorted the whole group to her spacious, antique kitchen, to try her Gewurztraminers with ripe local Munster cheese and baguettes. Unusually among the  philosophically-inclined vignerons of Alsace, this is a domaine that remains incredibly grounded, creating wines that celebrate life rather than an idea.

Chef Jacques has composed a tasting menu to complement these lovely wines, and Danny Haas, French wine buyer for Vineyard Brands, will be on hand to introduce them.
