We DO Love Amaro!
It was originally sold as a health tonic in the 1700’s, and is making a HUGE comeback as an aperitif/digestif and cocktail ingredient.
Traditionally, always Italian, it is made by infusing grape brandy with a (usually secretive) mix of herbs, flowers, aromatic bark, citrus peel and spices. Then it’s sweetened with sugar syrup and aged. It’s silky, like a liqueur, bitter and sweet in varying degrees and always aromatically complex. Today there are many different styles of Amari produced in numerous countries around the world.
So please join us for our first ever Amari celebration! It will be the perfect opportunity to check out all the different styles and we will also explore its use as a mixology ingredient with some cocktail demonstrations!
