About Vega Sicilia
  • Vega Sicilia is widely regarded as the greatest wine producer in Spain. The estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety. Its top wine, Unico, is one of Spain's most expensive and sought-after wines.
  • Founded in 1864, the estate had its highs and lows on the way to its now Icon status.  Using the Super Tuscan model, Vega Sicilia helped to bring Spain's native Tempranillo into the spotlight with the help of the already famous Bordeaux varieties.
  • Unico, the estates premier cuvee, is still made as it was a half century or more ago: a selection of only the best vintages released after a decade or more of age. Made from at least 80% Tempranillo and small amounts of Bordeaux varietals, it is a wine of epic proportions, known for great restraint in its youth but an almost unlimited cellaring potential.
