We know it all starts with the winemaker.  But how much do you know about organic and what’s the deal with biodynamic wine? Join Lark Hill Winery’s Chris Carpenter, (one of 12 finalists in the 2017 Young Gun of Wine Awards), savour a 5 course, matched wine degustation and discover how a winemaker with a pure science pedigree comes to be filling cow horns with fresh manure and burying them for six months.

Chris was the only finalist from NSW and the ACT in the awards, which showcase and celebrate Australia’s emerging winemakers. His parents, Sue (a consultant statistician with the CSIRO) and Dave (a visiting fellow in mathematics and physics at ANU), established Lark Hill in 1978.  Chris left a degree in pure science and is now the director and chief winemaker.

Lark Hill has achieved cult status as a certified biodynamic, family owned and run estate, producing Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gruner Veltliner,  Shiraz, Viognier, Sangiovese and small amounts of Marsanne & Rousanne.  Minimal intervention winemaking techniques ensure Lark Hill wines reflects the geology, climate and location of the vineyard, in a true preservation of Terroir.

Seats are limited, so hurry to reserve your place at the table. Join Chris for what promises to be an intimate, fascinating and delicious voyage of discovery. Sample the Lark Hill catalogue and learn how a modern vineyard interprets the principles of Biodynamic farming, pioneered by Rudolph Steiner, in Austria in the 1920s.
