Yakima Valley Vintners and the YVC Wine Marketing class invite you to our free event. Learn about wines produced, tour the only teaching winery in the region, and enjoy tastings of student-crafted, award-winning wines.
Several interactive educational activities are planned including comparing and tasting a wine fermenting in a tank verse one fermenting in what is affectionately called the Drunk Turtle, an amphora (fermentation vessel) produced by a company in Tuscany, Italy. The Drunk Turtle amphora is made of fragments or "cocci" of crushed terracotta and stone, sand, and a binding agent. Visitors will be able to taste for themselves the difference in the wine from this vessel.
In order to participate in the tasting portion of the event, participants must be 21 years of age or older and need to provide valid identification. Visitors may participate in the tour and educational opportunities without tasting.
