Pairings for Valentine’s Day

Feb 10 4-7pm

Great opportunity to taste at least six wines each paired with a different food, every Saturday, 4-7pm. Foods and wines tasted are discounted 20%.

Beaumont des Crayeres Rose, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sparkling, Champagne, Fr, Fresh, voluptuous and elegant; Raspberry pink robe with salmon glints and fine bubbles. Very fresh and delicate nose with citrus fruits, raspberry and flower notes, with nice flavours of redcurrent and wild strawberry.  

Consider Bardwell Danby

This raw goat’s milk cheese from Vermont is surprisingly firm with a rich and sturdy flavor.

 

Domaine Schoffit, Auxerrois and Pinot Blanc, Rich White, Alsace, Fr, A well-balanced, old vines Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois blend. Entirely hand-harvested, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks; "luscious on the nose and even better in the mouth"; well-made    

Savory Palmiers

Puffed Pastry, Pesto, Sundried Tomatoes, Goat Cheese, Pine Nuts, Yum.  Easy to make but look more difficult.

Domaine Roumagnac, Negtette, Syrah, Gamay, Cab, Rose, Fronton, Fr, The nose is of red berry and citrus fruits (red currants and grapefruit), while the palate is persistent and beautifully balanced  

Arnaud Mixed Provence Olives

Pickled items always work well with Rosés.  These are a blend of different olives pickled with herbs.

Wachter Wiesler, Blaufrankisch, Fresh Red, Austria, Y, Wild strawberries and red currants with a firm peppery kick mid palate and on the finish; fresh and lively in the mouth with good acidity           

Ray’s Lasagna

Long hours of cooking the sauce and the meat make this work.

La Casaccia "Poggeto", Grignolino, Smooth Red, Monferrato, Piemonte, Italy, Y, Transparent and bright violet in color, this wine is tangy and fruity with black cherries, spice, and a lean minerality. Can be served lightly chilled.

Dartagnan Saucisson Sec

The classic and wonderful dry salami-style made in the French-way.

High Valley Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bold Red, CA, Y, Starts with aromas of dried cherry, black pepper and cedar. The full-bodied flavors and textured finish are enhanced by notes of cherries, herbs and toasted oak.   

Jasper Hill Winnemere

Decadent and gooey.  Winnemere from Vermont will win you over. Limited availability throughout the year.

Henriques and Henriques, 5 Year Old Finest Full Rich Madeira (NV)       Tinta Negra Mole, Dessert, Portugal, Aging in oak casks has produced this intensely concentrated and rich wine. Dark gold coloured with strong aromas and flavours of ripe fruit. Mellow and very rich on the palate, it is ideal as an after dinner drink.
