I’m sure you’re familiar with Port, that sticky sweet, fortified wine made famous in countless British period dramas when, after dinner the men retire to the study to smoke cigars, shoot pool and drink port. Given my aversion to smoky rooms I think I’d prefer remaining with the women.
But they make and consume fine table wines in Portugal as well. Many using the same grapes they use in Ports.
Portugal went her own way for centuries producing table wines often searingly high in acidity and rustic for local consumption. But they are gaining a good reputation for more modern and international styles.
We will taste 2 whites and 3 reds.
Price is $20. Please call or see the front desk to place reservations. 802 253-5742. Doors open @ 4:00. I suggest you arrive no later than 5:00 to avoid feeling rushed. People come and go during the tasting which is an informal walk around format. We end at 6:00
