Please join us Friday, January 26th any time between 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Corey Hennegan to our wine bar. Corey is the San Francisco Sales Representative for Faction Brewing and will present a flight of their great beers.
Faction Brewery was a dream that was able to come true for Rodger Davis when he met Claudia Pamparana. The two beer industry friends began dating all the while talking about opening a brewery. Roger had already gained a reputation for his hop-forward beers while working as head brewer at Drake's Brewing Co. in San Leandro and Triple Rock Brewery and Alehouse in Berkeley, and Claudia had years of beer industry service under her belt as well. When they stumbled upon a 65,000-square-foot hangar on the Navy Base in Alameda, overlooking the San Francisco Bay, they knew they had found the spot. It turned out to be more challenging than anticipated to get up and running due to complex regulations imposed by the state Office of Historic Preservation, which oversees the Naval Base. Some of these regulations are due to the presence of protected nesting colonies for an endangered bird known as the California least tern. Yet after a long and arduous process, Faction finally opened in 2013 and can barely keep up with the demand for their popular, straightforward and refreshingly less bitter beers than many of their California craft brewer counterparts. Faction prides itself on brewing no-nonsense beers, meaning they don’t add fancy ingredients such as lemongrass or exotic spices, opting for more traditional styles yet with their signature hop-forward style. They are definitely a fun place to visit while admiring the view and dogs and kids are welcome too!
We are especially excited to host Corey since he so graciously hosted our Beer Club team at the brewery last year and we featured their ‘Diverge IPA’ in our November club selections.
