Italy Personally, from Lake Garda to Tuscany by Scott Casper
It’s great to be able to experience tasting wine at the wineries. However, it’s even better when those wineries are in Italy. Now, let’s go further. How about tasting stunning whites from the Lake Garda area and magnificent reds from Tuscany. Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have a Wine Society tasting there? Well yes, it would be fantastic but it wouldn’t be very practical. So how about the next best thing. Let’s bring those wines from the appellations and wineries that my wife and I tasted over there to the Hilton Harrisburg so you can enjoy them.
At Lake Garda this past June, my wife and I discovered beautiful whites in the Lugana appellation. Lake Garda is located in Northern Italy. It is the largest lake in Italy so it provides a fantastic micro-climate to produce very aromatic, delicious white wines. Lugana instantly became our favorite white wine appellation. At this tasting, we will have both a Lugana and a Lugana Riserva for you to enjoy. We’ll also have another white from an area east of Lake Garda, Soave Classico.
Farther south lies Tuscany. This is a warmer climate area. It’s home to wineries that produce some of the finest red wines in the world: Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montelpulciano, Chianti Classico and the famous Super Tuscans. All of these great wine appellations will be represented at this event.
Join us at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Hilton Harrisburg for tasting nine select wines paired with delicious Italian food.
