The 2015 Southern Rhones have hit the store, and they’re drinking wonderfully.  A hot, dry, and sunny vintage resulted in ripe, open-knit, and opulent, Grenache-based wines, and I’m crazy about them.  They’re not only delicious, they’re super affordable!  Trust me, if you’re a fan of rich and spicy reds, you don’t want to miss this tasting.  Taste, learn, and save big every Friday at Table Wine.  And be sure to stop back by tomorrow between 2-5pm for our Super Saturday Wine Tasting. Mike Tiano of the Haw River Wine Man joins us to pour 8 Classic Italian Wines.

All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle!  To take advantage of the savings, all sales must be tendered by the end of the tasting.

1. 2016 Domaine Saint André de Figuière Cotes de Provence Rose “Magali Cuvée” (Provence, France) – Some might think it too early to be breaking out the dry rosé……..nonsense!  This is a new one for the store, and I seriously love it!  From a family-owned and operated domaine that has farmed organically for over 40 years, this blend of nearly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault is pale-pink in the glass, but it’s got tons of aromatic brightness and flavor.  Yum!
Special Tasting Price: $12.79/bottle

2. 2015 Chateau Pesquié Cotes du Ventoux “Cuvée des Terasses” (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – This is always one of the great red wine values in the world, and the estate’s 2015 is marvelous.  “A smoking good 2015 that readers should snatch up is the 2015 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee des Terrasses, which is 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that’s aged in a combination of two- to four-year-old barrels and foudres. Medium to full-bodied, polished, silky and with no hard edges, it has classic Southern Rhone notes.” – Wine Advocate – 92 points
Special Tasting Price: $13.59/bottle

3. 2015 Domaine Durieu Plan de Dieu (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – Plan de Dieu is a small region in the centre of the southern Rhône, between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas.  It is prime real-estate, but the wines sell for a fraction of the cost of their more well-known neighbors.  I refer to this one as “Poor Person’s Chateauneuf” — bold and structured, yet full of pleasure, drink this beauty now or cellar for up 10 years.
Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle
