Chateau La Freynelle, Bordeaux Blanc (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle), 2016 - $11.99
Although the Bordeaux region is best known for is legendary red wines, they make elegant whites such as this traditional blend. Brilliant straw in color with a lovely fruit nose of white peaches, citrus fruits, and beeswax. Charming palate with a smooth finish. Pairs great with appetizers, shellfish (especially oysters), seafood and white meats. "Aromatic and floral, this wine has crisp fruitiness and lively acidity that support the delicious spicy character." 88 pts. Wine Enthusiast
Chateau Saint-Andre Corbin, St Georges-St. Emilion, Bordeaux Rouge (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), 2015 - $23.99
Intense purple with a rich fruity nose of ripe Merlot: chocolate and toasty oak flavors. Full, round, lush, fruit driven palate with excellent structure, balance and silky tannins. “From the smallest of the Saint-Emilion satellite villages, this wine has swathes of black fruit aromas that go well with its firm tannins, dense blackberry flavors and concentration. Ripe Merlot dominates the blend, giving both structure and fruit."91 pts. Wine Enthusiast
Chateau Haut Colombier, Blaye, Cotes de Bordeaux (Merlot, Malbec), 2015 - $18.99
A blend of the beautiful and varied terroirs of the château mixing Merlot and Malbec grapes for a fruity wine with aromas of vanilla and toasted French oak. Ample and fleshy, with complex tannins it presents great aging potential. Winery owners Emmanuel and Olivier Chety are the worthy heirs to a long family history. As “young farmers” they began converting the vineyard to organic farming in 2011 and 2015 is the second organic vintage.
Chateau L'Argenteyre, Cru Bourgeois, Medoc, (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot), 2012 - $19.99
The 'Medoc' is a region on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, with stony gravel soils where Cabernet rules supreme. 'Cru Bourgeois' is not in the same esteem as the proper 'Grand Cru Classe' but represent dramatically better value for money. Deep purple-colored in the glass, aromas of dark berry fruits, tobacco leaf and earth. Flavors of cassis, blackberry, cedar, with a dash of gunsmoke and smooth tannins. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 15% Petit Verdot.
Château Nicot, Bordeaux Rouge (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot), 2015 - $11.99
70% Cabernet Sauvignon for all our Cab lovers. Situated on the right bank of the River Garonne, a little under 22 miles south of Bordeaux, Château Nicot has enjoyed an enviable reputation for over two hundred years. Ruby-red color, a fresh nose with black fruit aromas. Supple on the palate with good structure and substance, lifted by gorgeous red fruit and spicy notes. Fine tannins with some substance and a long, very pleasant finish. Easy to drink now, but can be laid back for several years.
