January 25th @ 6:30pm Wine 101

Wine 101 with Keith Dalbec, Certified Specialist of Wine, and our very own wine consultant at Wine Sage and Gourmet. This class will practice a simple approach to appreciating the aroma and taste of the six noble varietals red and white wines - Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Keith has taught wine classes for 2 decades and has a great appreciation for wine. We are fortunate to have him as part of our excellent staff here at Wine Sage.

February 1st @ 6:30pm Up Your Sniffer

Our guest instructor John Condren, will present the class with 30+  aromas found in the "nose" of red and white wines. Examples will be presented blindly and participants will sense and identify various aromatics. This is sure to be a lively and very educational experience. Wines will be paired with aroma samples. John Condren, who recently moved to the area from California has been a wine connoisseur and collector for over 30 years. He has worked in the wine industry in all levels and since 2016 has been the marketing consultant for the North Carolina Wine Growers Association. He is an active speak at NCWGA conferences and loves sharing his knowledge with wine lovers.

February 22nd @ 6:30pm  Somm How and Somm What

Our guest instructor, Drew Summers of Advintage Distributors, will take the class through the Sommelier's Rubric for identifying and evaluating wines. If you have seen the documentary SOMM you will be intrigued to go through this process with someone who has been through it personally. Drew is a Level 2 Certified Sommelier and began his career in the wine industry working at Northhampton Wines in Greer SC while he was a student at Furman University. Drew has a wealth of knowledge about wine that comes from his love and appreciation of the art and craft of wine-making. Drew loves sharing his knowledge through tastings and classes and does consultations and cellar evaluations and appraisals as well as his work with Advintage.

March 1st @ 6:30pm  Europhilia Meets Oenophilia (Or Tasting the Wines of the Old World)

Our guest instructor, Anne Prevatte of Orsini Distributors, will take us across the pond on a wine tour of the Old World. Participants will taste and evaluate several wine varietals that distinguish France, Italy and Spain as the Motherland of the vines. Anne is a sales consultant with Orsini Wine which is a new and upcoming distributorship in the area. Anne is a Certified Sommelier and Certified Wine Educator. Anne does customized wine tastings, wine seminars and consults on cellar organization.
