Pinot Noirs Encounter

Wed Jan 31 5-7pm, sale all day (20% off)

Pinot Noir is one of the most difficult grapes to grow and turn into wine. Thus, unlike Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are relatively easy to grow and turn into wine, good Pinot Noir is not grown everywhere. Red Burgundy is the epitome of Pinot Noir, and Willamette Valley has garnered quite a reputation (with which we agree) for Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir (or Pinot Nero) from Italy is much less known, and until we visited Northern Italy, we’d never had a Pinot Nero that we liked. Some areas of Italy, such as Alto Adige and Friuli have weather and terroir suitable for Pinot Noir, and we have several in the store. So, for the fun of it, we’re opening three Pinot Noirs, from Burgundy, Willamette Valley and Alto Adige. Come and try all three.

Givry Vieilles Vignes, Pinot Noir, Smooth Red, Burgundy, Fr, "This wine shows beautifully elegant red berry fruit as well as plum, a touch of earthy licorice and dark cherry", along with a nice acidity, balance and a clean finish

Montinore Estate Pinot Noir, Smooth Red, Willamette, OR, Y, Nice spicey earthy fruity fragrances, which continue in the mouth with integrated tannins; pretty

Colterenzio, Pinot Nero, Smooth Red, Alto Adige, Italy, Candied red fruit bouquet; fresh and balance with nice simple red fruit in the mouth; fresh, easy drinking but good length
