Just outside Sienna is a small little producer by the name of Ciacci Piccolomini. This brother & sister team are producing some of the finest Brunello's in all of Italy. Last year I was able to taste these beauties and decided that we needed a fresh new year for your palate to breakdown these Brunello's
We'll be tasting some juice that most people need get a chance to taste. Hope you have your big boy dentures in...you're gonna need them.
2013 Ciacci Piccolomini Ateo - Shows sweet black cherry and cassis, and has a plummy texture. Tobacco, vanilla, and baking spices intermingle on the nose and palate.
2015 Ciacci Piccolomini Toscana Rosso IGT - A fantastic value, the wine displays sweet cherry, red plum, flowers, leather, and a hint of dusty earth. The French varietals add plushness to the palate that nicely rounds out the Sangiovese.
2015 Ciacci Piccolomini Rosso di Montalcino - Ruby red color. Fruit forward, spicy and oral. Red berry fruit notes are enriched by slight oral and spicy hints. Warm, soft on the palate with great structure and round tannis. An excellent wine suited to all courses, particularly vegetables, soups, salami, cheese and second courses featuring red meat.
2011 Ciacci Piccolomini Brunello di Montalcino - The bouquet of this wine is intense, fruit-forward, spicy and floral with hints of red berry fruits enriched by delicate spicy notes. Warm, soft and very well balanced on the palate; structured with soft tannins and a long finish.
2012 Ciacci Piccolomini Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso - Graphite and cedar aromas lead off in this cherry, strawberry and licorice-flavored red. This is firm, with quiet intensity and a dense, spice-infused finish.
As you can see...we are not screwing around on this one!!!
