Maison F.E. Trimbach, located in the heart of Alsace, has been a benchmark for high quality Riesling since its establishment in 1626 by Jean Trimbach.
Since then, twelve generations of winemakers - including several Jeans - have tirelessly drawn on their passion for Alsace, ensuring the wines they produce stand for quality and authenticity, patiently establishing an unparalleled reputation for excellence.
Among their prized vineyard sites are those in the medieval village of Ribeauvillé, a source of some of the world’s most sought after Rieslings.
Trimbach first acquired true international acclaim when the winery received the highest distinction at the 1898 International Wine Fair in Brussels. Ever since, the winery has received numerous awards and accolades from top wine professionals and publications across the globe, icluding prestigious awards for their famed Riesling Cuvee Frédéric Emile. Trimbach wines are the only Alsace wines sold in all of the 27 Michelin rated, 3-star, restaurants in France.
Today, Trimbach is run by Hubert Trimbach alongside his nephews Jean and Pierre, and Pierre’s daugther Anne – representing the 13thgeneration of Trimbach.
Jean Trimbach, of the 12th generation, has over 25 years of experience working for Maison Trimbach.
Educated in Colmar, Jean attended college in Strasbourg where he studied accounting and business. In 1983, Jean served his year of military service with the Mountain Artillery based near Grenoble in the French Alps.
Jean finished his studies in the USA where he perfected his English and studied all aspects of the US wine business. He first moved to New York where he worked for six months for Seagram Château & Estates Wine Company. He then moved to California where he worked at Gundlach-Bundschu in Sonoma and at Sterling Vineyards in Napa. Upon returning to France, Jean also spent three months at Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux.
Today, Jean Trimbach boasts the expertise of selling over 25 Trimbach vintages and has also been very involved in the export business, travelling extensively throughout the world.
