The Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) is one of Society of Wine Educators' notoriously rigorous certifications, testing a candidate’s wine knowledge and mastery of key elements within the worlds of viticulture and wine production. The San Francisco Wine School has created a comprehensive, highly focused preparation program to help ensure your success.
Students enrolled in this in-depth program will gain a solid understanding of the world of wine while participating in a fun setting with other wine professionals seeking success on the challenging CSW exam. Our proven techniques and expert instructors will help you acquire the knowledge for a great test-taking experience! The CSW program is divided into 5 units that we have broken into 10 class sessions, covering wine tasting, terminology, composition, chemistry, flaws, viticulture, enology, labels, laws and wine regions of the world. In-depth blind tastings and discussions of over 60 wines from the relevant regions are included in every course. At the end of the full series is an opportunity to review test your knowledge of the wines, regions and laws on the CSW exam.
The Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) is an internationally recognized credential conferred by the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) which has branches in countries around the world. Obtaining the CSW demonstrates your mastery of wines of the entire world and can help you launch or further your career in wine. It is also a mandatory prerequisite for SWE’s top credential Certified Wine Educator (CWE).
The CSW Study Guide, SWE Online Wine Academy, and CSW exam are all included in the full series registration – a $650 value.
Note: All Attendees of our classes must be at least 21 years of age.
