If you're not already in the holiday spirit, then stop by the store this Friday from 3-7pm - the wines we'll have open will have you celebrating in no time! Pay special attention to Protos Ribera del Duero - a Wine Spectator 91 point luxury blend that's dropped from $45 on release to just $29.98 now! We'll taste:
Eric Rodez Ambonnay Cuvee Des Crayeres NV - A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from Eric's Grand Cru vineyards, this shows a touch of toast to go with vibrant citrus and stone fruit aromas and flavors.
Eric Rodez Ambonnay Cuvee Des Grands Vintages NV - A majestic blend of up to seven vintages, all aged in barrel, with at least 8 years on the lees. If you like Krug, you'll like this (and you'll like the price a lot more than Krug!).
Egret Chardonnay Sonoma County 2015 - It's never easy finding really delicious, lightly oaked, and generously ripe Sonoma Chardonnay for under $20. This mainly Carneros-sourced Chard checks those boxes nicely and adds in the kind of texture more often seen in $30 wines. A treat!
Clos de la Cure Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2014 - What kind of Bordeaux does a Burgundy expert like Olivier Daubresse drink? One like this that delivers fantastic purity and finesse with plenty of classic Bordeaux character and intensity.
Bodegas Protos 27 Ribera Del Duero Tinto 2014 - The winery set out to make a luxury bottling of 100% low-yielding Tempranillo aged in 100% new French oak that would sell first for $100, then coming down to $45. With a nice 91 point Wine Spectator rating, it should have done fine, but with no "Reserva" designation, it seems to have confused the market. Now at just $29.98, it's a fine value treat for any Tempranillo fan!
As always, we'll have some treats from the cheese case out to try with the wines and are ready with recommendations for gift, party, and just-for-you wines to fit any budget. Join us!
