Holiday Trilogies

Plus Kosta with Wines from Georgia

Wed Dec 13, 5-7pm, sale all day (20% off)

Trilogies (three “premium” wines packaged in a 3-bottle package with wine descriptions) are great holiday presents. We have three trilogies, one with three champagnes, another with barolos and the third with California Cabernet Sauvignons. All are priced at $125 per trilogy, with large discounts compared to shelf prices. On Wednesday, you can try one bottle from each trilogy, with trilogies available and ready to go. At a second table, Kosta will present three unique and different wines he’s imported from Georgia. All six wines will be available individually with the usual 20% discount.

Beaumont des Crayeres Rose, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sparkling, Champagne, Fr, Fresh, voluptuous and elegant; Raspberry pink robe with salmon glints and fine bubbles. Very fresh and delicate nose with citrus fruits, raspberry and flower notes, with nice flavors of red current and wild strawberry.

Giacomo Fenocchio, Barolo Villero, Nebbiolo, Bold Red, Piemonte, Italy, The scent is complex and rich with fruit, floral scents, spices, underbrush and plums. It has an intense flavor with sweet tannins and a long aftertaste. This Barolo Villero expresses itself with its characteristic stimulating scent accompanied by a dry, but warm and elegant flavor which it retains for a long time.

Blanchard Family Cash Allen, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Bold Red, Alexander Valley, Napa, CA, This wine has an incredibly unique nose, with aromas of eucalyptus and exotic spice that complement the smell of smoky oak.  On the palate, we find flavors of black berries, pepper, and pleasant earthy tones. The rich tannin adds to the bold dry finish on the tongue.

Kosta, Wines from Georgia

Georgia is one of the oldest wine regions in the world. Traditionally, fermented juice is buried in clay vessels, kvevris, topped with a wooden lid and then covered and sealed with earth. The first and last wines Kosta will present are made with the most well-known Georgian varieties, Rkatsiteli and Saperavi, but made with modern techniques. The second wine, Orgo, however, is an Rkatsiteli made using kvevris, and is, in effect an orange wine. It will be interesting to compare the regular Rkatisiteli with the orange version.

Tbilvino, Rkatsiteli, Crisp White, Kakheti, Georgia, This wine perfectly displays an aroma typical to this variety - the high acidity in this wine makes it crisp and almost slightly sour, combined with the apple notes and yellow flowers.

Orgo, Rkatsiteli, Orange, Kakheti, Georgia, The amber hue of this qvevri made “white” wine comes from six months of aging on the skins. Lovely aromas of dried apricot, almond, truffle and hay. This full-bodied wine has grip, velvety tannin and drinks more like a red than any white you are used too.

Tbilvino, Saperavi, Bold Red, Kakheti, Georgia, this wine has a bouquet of blackberry with touches of pencil lead. There is a nice balance of brightness and smooth tannins, with flavors of blackberry, blueberry, vanilla and nutmeg
