Burgundy - its wines are legendary, considered by many to be the greatest on this planet. The two principal grapes of Burgundy are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and, it is argued, they attain their greatest expression in the soils of Burgundy, producing profound wines capable of long ageing.
Sommelier Arnie Millan will guide you through the legendary wines of Burgundy in a two-part class series Sunday, November 12th and November 19th.
We will cover the history of Burgundy, its Cru system, all the major Côte d'Or villages and the top producers.
The first class, on the 12th, will focus on Northern Burgundy; specifically Chablis (not the plonk from California but great, noble Chardonnay), Marsannay and the Côte de Nuits.
The second class, on the 19th, will focus on the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâcon. If time permits, we will also cover Beaujolais.
We will taste 8 fine wines per class, including Grand Crus,.
The Seattle Times recently named Arnie "The finest Wine Mind in Seattle."
This classes will be held at Esquin Wine & Spirits, 2700 4th Avenue S., Seattle, WA 98134
