Wines

Valderiz Ribera del Duero 2014
94 points Wine Spectator
Dense and muscular, yet graceful, this red balances ripe blackberry and cassis flavors with savory black olive, bitter chocolate and mineral notes. The firm tannins are well-integrated, and lively acidity keeps this fresh through the spicy and floral finish.

Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial 2012
93 points Wine Advocate
This is produced as a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah. This 2012 matured in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barrels for 14 months. There are some spicy aromas intermixed with the wild berry aromas, developing some balsamic undertones, licorice and a little bit of toast. It is very subtle and nicely compact. The texture is very fine with dusty tannins, good acidity and freshness.

Giovanni Rocca Barolo 2010
93 points Wine Spectator
This is elegant and firmly structured, showing cherry, strawberry, leather and tobacco flavors. Lighter in style and focused, with loads of detail on the lingering, minerally finish. Best from 2017 through 2032. 800 cases made.

Giribaldi Barbaresco 2006
93 points Wine Spectator
Attractive cherry, plum and tobacco aromas and flavors get support from dense tannins in this pretty yet well-toned red, which still needs time for the tannins to soften, but shows harmony and a lingering aftertaste of spice and mineral. Best from 2013 through 2024. 100 cases imported.
