Oak barrels can be new, old, French, American, or Slovenian. It can be charred heavily, lightly, or barely at all. Barrels can come in small barriques, medium sizes, or large casks. Its use by a winemaker can be denoted as crianza, reserva, or not at all. With all of these uses and definitions, how is a wine lover supposed to keep it all straight? This class will chop down all of the misconceptions about oak, help you taste the difference, and discover why some wines are aged in oak and others are not. 

- Six wines will be tasted.
