Tercero means third in Spanish. Larry Schaffer, proprietor and wine maker was born on the third of February and he is the father of three beautiful children. He was on the third floor of the third dorm (Tercero) at U.C. Davis. Larry went on to make wines at Fess Parker for six years and has moved out on his own now. We tasted all 12 of his current offerings together recently at a/k/a and, unbelievably, I could have happily purchased nearly all of them.
In lieu of nearly taking over our wine list, Larry will instead take over the main dining room at Bistro 45 for a scintillating, sensory, satiating presentation of seven of Tercero's best, plus five perfectly paired platings by Chef Steven. (Yes, you will actually taste his 2010 Outlier(Gewurztraminer) flowing first, followed by teams of two wines with each of the next three dishes, finishing off with Steve's Chilled Stone Fruit Souffle for dessert.
