    SPECTRUM WINE AUCTIONS
       INVITES YOU TO A NEW
          SERIES OF TASTINGS!

Announcing the SECOND in the Spectrum Wine Auctions “Pop-Up” Wine Tasting Series: Featuring the Têtes de Cuvée of a selection of Champagne’s Grandes Marques
- Wednesday July 25, 2012 | Space is Very Limited - RSVP Today!

In the spirit of the “pop-up” restaurant craze, Spectrum Wine Auctions is hosting monthly thematic tastings in Los Angeles, Orange County, and beyond!

We will always be on the move - it may be a restaurant in Venice, a wine shop in Newport Beach, a winery in Santa Barbara, a wine bar in Santa Monica - we will “pop up” near you with a fun and educational tasting event!

It will be on the last Wednesday of every month, with the mission to pop the corks on some of the world's great wines with our clients and friends. We will also be holding a raffle for a bottle of wine, gift cards and more.
It will be fun, easy, and delicious, but you must RSVP!

Champagne Têtes de Cuvée Pop-Up!

This month we will be pouring some of the great Champagne houses’ - the Grandes Marques’ - top wines, or Têtes de Cuvée. Each wine features a unique cépage, a complex terroir cocktail, and a particular preferred production method. We will be pouring wines from some of the great vintages of the 1990s - 1990, 1996, 1998, and 1999 - to foster comparisons among, elucidate contrasts between, and strike up a discussion about these very different wines. (We may even bring something extra just for fun.) We would also like to invite our guests to bring their own Champagne to the tasting to add to the mix, if they feel so inclined.

Don’t miss out! RSVP today by emailing Chris Weed at CWeed@SpectrumWine.com. Admission is $25, and it is to be applied as a credit toward your next Spectrum Wine Auctions purchase.

We Will Be Pouring:

DOM PÉRIGNON 1999
WA 93 ~ “Smoke, toastiness, tar and ripe fruit emerge from the glass in a generous, expansive style… the wine possesses outstanding balance and plenty of harmony.”

PHILIPPONNAT CLOS DES GOISSES 1999
WA 95 ~ “The 1999 Clos des Goisses flows from the glass with the essence of minerals, chalk, smoke, ash, white peaches, pears, flowers and sweet oak. This is a muscular, powerful wine that needs serious bottle age to come around, yet it possesses striking clarity and detail in its aromatics and flavors. Clos des Goisses is one of the most rewarding wines to drink when mature, and I have no doubt this will be another splendid version. This refined, sumptuous wine is not to be missed. Clos des Goisses is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and 30% of the wine was fermented in oak . . . . Oddly enough Clos des Goisses remains a wine for insiders despite a track record few wines can match, as it is one of the most age worthy Champagnes on the market.”

KRUG VINTAGE BRUT 1998
WS 97 ~ “Displays precision, focus and detail, framed by well-honed acidity and offering fine, pointillist-like texture. Rich, with layer upon layer of flavor, showing fruit and floral notes of dried apricot and pineapple, chamomile and crystallized honey and savory notes of ground coffee, roast almond, dried herbs and oyster shell. Ends with a long, long, mouthwatering finish.”

SALON 1996
WA 97+ ~ “The 1996 Salon is yet another wine that is maturing splendidly. Once focused to the point of being painfully austere and angular, today the 1996 Salon has begun to soften and fill out. My latest bottles have been rich, generous and totally compelling in every way.”

LAURENT-PERRIER GRAND SIÈCLE 1990
WS 90 ~ “Suave in texture and earthy in flavor, this is a serious, traditional style of vintage Champagne. Has a subdued core of fruit flavor, with a sense of restraint and ample accents of yeasty complexity.”

VEUVE CLICQUOT LA GRANDE DAME 1990
RP 95 ~ “I highly recommend the Veuve Clicquot 1990 La Grande Dame. It is exquisitely rich and accessible, yet bursting with potential.”
