Crumbling Rock '09 VS. the World
July 29, 2012 (Sun)
from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Black Ankle Vineyards
Mt. Airy, Maryland 21771
One of the most important jobs we have as winemakers is to train our palates to be able to distinguish truly outstanding wines from those that are merely nice. The best way to do this is to taste, taste, taste - wines from all kinds of vineyards made in a variety of styles. It is a grueling job, but hey, no one said this would be easy! Here's your chance to get involved in this process.??
We have asked 7 of the best wine merchants in Maryland to recommend Syrahs that are comparably priced to our 2009 Crumbling Rock (net yet released!). Black Ankle's Ed Boyce will lead a blind tasting of eight wines, including the Crumbling Rock. The tasting will be accompanied by discussion of strengths, weaknesses and interesting points of each wine. Once the identities of the wines are revealed, we will look at when, how and where they were made and how their cultivation has affected the finished wines.
This is definitely a five star day for the serious (or aspiring) wine geeks out there!??Just to keep things a bit festive, the tasting will be accompanied by a delicious assortment of light appetizers.
For more information or for reservations please contact Melissa Schulte via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Seating will be limited to around 40 guests, so rsvp as soon as possible!
