Rum is more than just a spirit; it’s history, it’s money, it’s power and it’s damn tasty in a Daiquiri. In this survey of rum, students will learn how rum came to be, how it fueled wars, how it helped to develop our country - from a Staten Island distillery, no less - and also, how to make the aforementioned Daiquiri. Students will sample a variety for rum, from different styles, to different ages, to more terroir-driven examples from different islands, all while learning the techniques and the history that brought them there.
