from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Event Details
Wine OR Wine & Food
Italy is the second largest wine producing country in the world. It is also a key exporter to the United States. An in-depth knowledge of Italian wine is critical to the wine professional and serious wine student.
This is a required course for the Level III Certification. If you would like to take a detailed, technical course on Italian wine you can take this course without being a Level III student. However, we strongly recommend that you first take the Guild Certification Seminar before attempting a Level III regional course.
This course covers the following areas in Italy:
NE Italy (4 regions)
NW Italy (4 regions)
Central Italy (7 regions)
Southern Italy & Islands (5 regions)
You will also learn about:
Geography and terroir
Wine production techniques by style and region
Wine growing and obligation requirements for each Appellation in the regions studied
How to use vintage data, by region
Wine character data, by appellation
You will receive more than 900 pages of material, specifically designed for this course and taste about 100 wines
The 11-week course meets from 9am to 1pm once a week for a total of 44 contact hours. Course fees are $1800. Cost of the course includes registration fees, handouts, wine, and instruction. We taste older vintage wines in this course.
Class meets every Monday beginning October 1st through December 1th, 2012
