History

In 1988 most California winemakers focused on varietal wines – Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a handful of other varieties. A few who recognized that many of the world’s most prized wines were not simply one note compositions turned their attention to blending, intent on producing wines of artistic expression. A small group of these like-minded producers founded the Meritage Association.

Meritage identifies wines produced from the traditional “noble:” Bordeaux varietals, with no single variety making up more than 90 percent of the blend. In addition, Association member wineries agree to use Meritage to refer to their best wines, those that represent the highest form of winemaking art.

The Challenge

Now it’s your turn! Join Tim Bell, Dry Creek Winemaker (via Skype), and Raj Hora of Tutto Vino as they leads us on this interactive blending experience to show you first hand the art of blending. We call it a challenge for two reasons. First, it’s a fun-filled competition among friends to see who can make the best blend (we’ll put you into teams, you’ll blend several traditional components together and we’ll actually vote to see whose Meritage is best). The second challenge is tasting all the components and focusing your senses and abilities into making an ideal wine.

So, if you’ve ever dreamed of being a winemaker for a day, now’s your chance!

We'll supply the pippette, the beaker and the blending wine!

You just need to come in with a sense of ADVENTURE & FUN!!

And... We will taste some great Dry Creek Wines!

Please RSVP as we have a very limited number of seats.
