The great dessert wines of the world can be described as the Xanadu and The Arabian Nights of the wine world. Yet, unlike Europe and South America, where they are highly appreciated, they are sometimes looked upon with suspicion in the US. This is either because people have never been properly introduced to them or because there persists among us a general feeling that sweet wines cannot possibly be as satisfying and nuanced as dry ones. This class will attempt to change this by presenting some of the outstanding examples in this category, such as Sauternes, Tokay, Port, Oloroso Sherry, and many others.
