Grenache from Three Countries
This weekend's premium flight spotlights Grenache from California, France, and Spain. Enjoy a 2-oz pour of all three for only $18.
2007 McPrice Myers L'Ange Rouge
California / Santa Barbara
Bottle: $38.99
The 2007 Grenache l’Ange Rouge exhibits a dark plum/garnet color that suggests plenty of evolution. The complex aromatics offer up notes of loamy soil intermixed with sweet and sour cherries, strawberry jam, tobacco leaf, and underbrush. It is a showy, spicy, peppery wine with outstanding ripeness, a round, lush texture, and plenty of glycerin (15.8% alcohol).

2009 Alto Moncayo Veraton
Spain / Campo de Borja
Bottle: $29.99
100% Garnacha. Inky purple. A heady bouquet evokes ripe red berries, anise, mocha and pungent fresh flowers. Supple and sweet on entry, then more structured in the middle, offering deep, mineral-accented dried strawberry and cherry liqueur flavors. Takes a spicy turn on the long, sappy finish, which echoes the pure red berry qualities. 500 cases produced.
2009 Orin Swift D66
France / Vins de Pay
Bottle: $40.99
The wine has a very dark, opaque red color with subtle aromas of toasted oak, ripe blueberry jam and dried rose petal. The entry is mouth coating and lush. Opulent plum and ultra ripe cherry are balanced with asian spices and a bright vein of minerality and acidity that give great structure, weight and balance to the long finish. The tannin chains are long and will lend to ageability for 5 to 10 years. 80% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 8% Carignan
