Detail:

Dreadnought Wines, Pittsburgh’s Strip District Mavens for all things wine, and The Terrace Room of the Omni William Penn Hotel will partner for a very special wine dinner featuring fine Italian wines from Indigenous Selections as well as a visit from wine rep Mollie Lewis.

On Wednesday, February 29, 2012, Foodies are invited to explore a selection of Italian wines from Dreadnought Wines paired with the fine foods presented by Executive Chef Jacky Francois, beginning at 6:00 PM.

Indigenous is a Fort Lauderdale-based, national import company created by Giorgio Rivetti, of La Spinetta fame. The company represents a handful of carefully selected Italian wineries which produce the finest, most authentic examples of wines from their respective regions.

Mollie Lewis, daughter of a retailer in Kentucky, grew up in the wine and spirits business, however studied art and lived and worked in New York City until she was 25 years old. Mollie then moved to Napa Valley, California where she immersed herself in the wine industry, taking classes at the Culinary Institute of America to learn everything from wine-making, varietal geography to the international distribution chain. She moved down to San Francisco where she "worked her way up" in restaurants and wine bars as a sommelier until she decided to work on the distribution side and worked for Chambers and Chambers in the Bay Area. Mollie then lived 5 years in Italy, one in Tuscany and 4 in Piemonte. In Piemonte she worked as the Export Manager for Azienda Agricola Malvira, which is located in Canale-Roero. Since the spring of 2011, Mollie has worked for Indigenous Selections taking care of the North-Eastern and parts of Central, USA, and she is excited to bring her knowledge to the guests at The Terrace Room.

The Terrace Room offers a setting unlike any other.  From the moment you step foot inside, you are captivated by the beauty of this incredible restaurant, with its original molded plaster ceiling and the striking back wall mural titled “The Taking of Fort Pitt”.  The original name of the Restaurant when the hotel opened on March 9, 1916 was “The Italian Terrace”.   Historic photographs of the room adorn the walls upon entry for your enjoyment.

What is truly special about the Terrace Room however, is not limited to the ambiance or beauty of the room, but the culinary delights that are served within.  Award winning Executive Chef Jacky Francois takes fresh natural local ingredients, and fuse them into many creative dishes that inspire the palate and envelopes the senses in an unmatched dining experience.

So much love for food and wine in one room, and guests are in for a true palate pleasing evening.

Join Dreadnought, Mollie Lewis, and The Terrace Room for this wine dinner event on Wednesday, February 29th at 6:00 PM. The cost is $75.00 per person, (not including tax and gratuity).
