Rhone’ around the world

Rhone is a famous wine growing region in France.  The region is known to produce over 23 grape varietals, mostly reds with a few whites, of which the king is Syrah. Many of these grape varietals of have been planted and spread throughout the “New World” wine growing areas with tremendous popularity. This week we have our friend Julie from the Vineyards Brands Company to help us explore Rhone style wines from all over the world including France, S. Africa, and California.

2010 Tablas Creek Patelin D Tablas: 91 points Wine Spectator. The 2010 Patelin de Tablas marries the spice, mineral and structure of Syrah with the generous fruit of Grenache, the backbone of Mourvedre and the brightness of Counoise. Drink it now or over the next decade .Food Pairings: Grilled meats, Pastas with meat sauces, Roast pork loin, Beef stews, Beef or pork stir fries.

La Vieille Ferme Cotes Luberon Blanc 2010: A fruity, crisp, dry wine made from Rhône varietals. The wine has a lovely floral bouquet, hinting of spice, with fresh, lemony fruit, and a crisp finish.

2010 La Vieille Ferme Cote Ventoux Rouge: This is a richly fruity and supple wine, ruby-purple colored, with aromas of cassis and herbs, flavors of plum and blackberry on the palate.

Goats Do Roam Red 2010: Bright ruby in the glass. Fresh berry aromas layered with spice and smoky notes. Medium weight with refreshing fruit acidity and juicy tannins. A pleasant wine with integrated flavors and a smooth finish.
