CORK & BARREL WINE TASTING

Saturday, February 11, 2-5 pm

204 US Route 1, Falmouth 781-7955

Tabitha Blake from Crush Distributors will be hosting our Valentine’s Day wine tasting.  These are perfect wines to help you celebrate.

Piccolo Moscato Rose, Piemonte, Italy, $15.99

It is a sweet, buy not heavy at all. Really pretty Rose Moscato is the newest trend! The right touch of sweetness. Rich aromas and flavors of spicy cherry compote and raspberry sorbet with a frothy, fruity medium body and a long, tangy clementine, melon and honey accented finish.

Domaine Bernard Moreau Bourgone Blanc, France,  $21.99

The Chardonnay vines average 30 years of age. Blanc at once rich, concentrated, fresh and complex. The wine is fermented in oak casks of which 15% are new; the balance being between 1 to 4 year old barrels). The lees are stirred once per week over a period of two months in order to enrich the young wine. The fermentation period lasts for 3 weeks and is followed by 8 months of maturation in barrel.

Anne du Joyeause, Camas Pinot Noir, Limoux, France .  $12.99

Certified Organic. Very pronounced nose of red fruits and cherries. A very approachable wine, ideal as an aperitif or with tapas.

The Bean Pinotage, South Africa.  $13.99

Unusual, delicious wine! This is a deep, dark color. The aromas and flavors definitely show mocha and roasted coffee as well as dark berry fruit. Aged in French oak barrels whose toasting was done in a way to accent the coffee/mocha flavors. 100% Pinotage. This has good tannins that have softened in the oak. Food pairing - Drinks well on its own. Grilled or roasted meats.

2009 Big Vine Cabernet, Napa Valley, CA  $21.99

We can't throw any $50 Cabernets under the bus because we certainly represent some! But, suffice it to say that the Big Vine has the texture, richness and power to compete with the big boys that are three and four times the price.

Carol Shelton "Wild Things" Zinfandel, Mendocino, CA.   $21.99

From the award winning producer Carol Shelton. Aromas of black cherry, plum and raspberry fruit combine with a beautiful hint of vanilla-oak  loveliness, smoothly textured in mouth, very creamy and round, the finish is long and has lush jammy fruit — this wine is dangerously good! Remember – you are what you drink …

.Eden Ice Cider, VT.  $27.99

Ice Cider brings the essence of pure apple to a sophisticated dessert wine. Vermont’s natural winter cold is used to concentrate cider to the optimum balance of sweetness and acidity. The unique blend of traditional and heirloom apples produces a complex, delicious flavor that complements food yet may be savored on its own. Featured in Food and Wine Magazine!
