During this 2-hour Meetup we will get familiar with the wines from the famous wine-making regions of Northern Spain: Rioja, Navarra and Somontano.
At the beginning we will briefly review the basics of Spanish wine zones and see where the “Upper Ebro” wines stay in this classification.
Then we will proceed to a detailed review of the 3 regions, one by one, looking into each region’s:
- Geography and Climate (and how they influence the wines)
- Brief historical reference about the local wine-making traditions
- Typical grape varieties used, their peculiar aromas and flavors (what you expect to meet when you uncork)
- Types and major characteristics of wines
- The best food pairing suggestions for the local wines Each part will be followed by wine tasting.
We will taste 5 wines altogether.
