Old Town Academy's 1st Annual Wine and Dine

Saturday, April 21, 2012 6 pm - 10 pm, VIP Event 5pm - 6pm

2120 San Diego Avenue, San Diego CA 92110

Wine Tasting (Rare Sales) and Culinary Event

Old Town Academy Foundation announces its 1st Annual Wine & Dine to support the new Old Town Academy – a new K-8 Charter School in San Diego.

The OTA Wine and Dine will offer some of the most exclusive wines in North America for taste and sale. Beer from two top southern California breweries, food from 12 of San Diego's popular restaurants, olive oil tasting, coffee, dessert and other culinary items will be served under two big-top tents this coming April. The festivities will include live music along with a silent and live auction in addition to a wall of wine raffle. Auction items available include a Paso Robles wine tour, a week long Cabo vacation and Leslie Perlis guided art created by the OTA students.

The wineries in attendance will be offering limited sales of their fine wines, many of which are not available to the general public.

Our VIP experience is for the “cult” wine collector. Limited in number, this select group of guests will meet and greet with THREE of California’s “cult” wine makers, and will get to sample from a “not available to the public” selection of their CULT wine.

Each selection will be paired with a heavy appetizer inspired by Chef Mark Pellicia (confirmation pending) of 25 Forty Bistro and Bakehouse.

Our VIPs will mingle with Mac and Lil McDonald, of Vision Cellars, and will get to taste Vision’s “Ms. Lil’s Cuvee” — an estate grown, micro-batch Pinto Noir of extraordinary depth and purpose. One sip, and you will understand why Mac’s Pinots have won countless awards, and have been served at the White House.

Our VIP’s will also mingle with Ex-pat San Diegan Peter Thompson, owner/wine maker of Andrew Geoffrey Vineyards. Peter is known for making the very best Diamond Mountain District Cabernets, which typically include modest blending amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. For our VIP tasting, Peter will be serving his single-bottled 2008 Petit Verdot, which he bottles only for his winery’s VIPs. With only about 20 cases made, and less than a dozen left, you won’t want to miss a chance to try this seductive yet powerful wine and its paired dish.

Lastly, our VIPs will also meet with (Babcock

-confirmation and descriptive pending). We guarantee that many of our guests will never have tried dishes such as those paired by Mark for these spectacular wines. And, very limited quantities of these wines will be available for purchase EXCLUSIVELY for our VIPs, at an unheard-of price for these otherwise NOT AVAILABLE wines.

The event is open to the public, ages 21 years and up. Tickets purchased prior to March 1stenjoy a discount: $85 for the event or $135 which includes the VIP Experience. The tickets are available through the OTA Foundation website which also lists the participating wineries and restaurants, auction items and detailed information. Please note that there will be no ticket sales available at the door.

Old Town Academy employs the award-winning CORE Knowledge curriculum and offers the San Diego community one of the most innovative grade schools in the county. Our Wine and Dine event is OTA's largest and most important fundraiser. The proceeds directly benefit the students by contributing to academic endeavors, sports programs, equipment and facility maintenance.
