Celebrate Lincoln’s 203rd birthday over President’s Day Weekend... with some Lincoln lore, pop songs of the 19th century and earlier by a variety of musical artists, and an Old Tavern Supper with popular recipes of the time.  And though Lincoln never partook, many a glass of wine will be raised in his honor! Join us for a musical romp through the ballads, marches, reels, hymns and lusty songs that helped our beloved sixteenth president lead us through the Civil War to Emancipation.  Though Abraham Lincoln famously couldn’t carry a tune – (When asked if Lincoln could sing, his law partner William Herndon replied: “Can a jackass whistle?”) – he loved music, and friends reported that songs held powerful sway over his moods.
